The Handshake Newsletters of the AOTS
Throughout the AOTS history, the national organization issued newsletters a few times each year that took the form of The President’s Letter, The President’s Newsletter and The Handshake. The newsletters were compiled by a national editor who relied on Club or Executive members to mail him content in the form of articles, notes, photographs and devotions. The final product, typically 10-16 pages, was mailed out to Club Secretaries who then shared the content with local Club members. Newsletters served an important AOTS function to:
• Encourage and support members and clubs in achieving the AOTS aims.
• Communicate news from the national organization.
• Publicize national projects.
• Share Club activities and accomplishments.
• Recognize Clubs and members for their significant contributions.
• Advertise conventions, conferences and regional rallies.
• Provide commentary on regional or national issues of importance to men of the United Church
This archive contains copies of many of the newsletters issued over the years prior to 2018. As you peruse this archive, you will, no doubt, recognize the excellent work of the editors and contributors who toiled to make the newsletters a relevant and valuable communications tool.
